Hawkesbury River Kayaks is excited to be able to offer River Access Only accommodation to our kayaking guests. Located at Coba Point, half way between Brooklyn and Berowra Waters, we have Riverbend Cottage, a large one bedroom self contained cottage right on the river, complete with en-suite, kitchen, verandah and private beach. During the winter months and early spring, this cottage will be available on weekends only.
(From around November 2021 onwards, the entire Cottage on 2 levels will be available, sleeping up to 8 guests, with 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens)
Perfectly suited for couples or friends looking for a unique weekend getaway, the cottage is just a two hour paddle from Berowra Waters. Once there, step out of your kayak onto the beach, and up to the verandah overlooking the Hawkesbury River. The cottage is equipped with everything you'll need for the weekend including:
Optional extra service - we can take your food/drink/clothing etc directly to the cottage, so you can paddle the river without all that gear stored in the kayaks. Everything will be waiting for you in the fridge and in the cottage when you arrive!
For the past 5 years we have been helping kayakers enjoy the river at its best by assisting with river camping trips, and now we can apply that knowledge to our KayakBnB. We have found the most popular trip itinerary runs as follows:
This is one option, but there are other ways to enjoy the trip to the Cottage too, and we'd be more than happy to chat about other plans you may have. However, bear in mind the river is tidal, and we often advise against paddling upstream from Brooklyn to the Cottage.
Of course, there are plenty of places to explore both along the way and once settled in to Riverbend Cottage. Twin Beaches is just a 15 min paddle, Bar Island with its historic ruined church and graveyard is 20 mins away. MarraMarra Creek is worth exploring too. For those inclined, Peats Byte Restaurant is not far (bookings essential).
If you'd like to stay both Friday and Saturday nights that's no problem, but remember during the winter/spring months, you'll need to allow plenty of time to make the Friday trip before dusk sets in. We can arrange to meet early on Friday afternoon or earlier if that's what you would like to do. There's plenty to explore by kayak during Saturday, or just chill out on the rivers edge and watch the world float by.
Double Room, including all amenities mentioned above - $250 per night (excludes kayaks)
Optional Gear/Food Drop off - $50
